What documents do I need for Comodo OV?

Organization Validation certifies, not only the domain name ownership, but also additional information about the organization/company that requested the SSL.The information includes the name of the entity, the city, the area and the country that constitute their seat. The issuing authority conducts research in banks or local governmental sources and databases. If the information is not confirmed, documents proving the identity of the requester and the organization must be submitted.

 

The first thing that will be controlled is the online confirmation of your company’s existence, on the  Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Athens website.

 

For this reason, you will have to confirm that your company does exist through the Chamber research, by entering the name or the distinctive title which must be in English.

 

Note: All the submitted documents, must be translated into English, as required by Comodo.

 

The documents must be sent from the user himself to the following address:

 

1. Comodo :

2. Symantec : In 2017 DigiCert acquired the TLS/SSL and Public Key Infrastructure businesses of Symantec, including the Certificate Authority brands Thawte, RapidSSL, VeriSign and GeoTrust.)

EV => ev_auth_support@symantec.com

 

3. Trustwave : sslsupport@trustwave.com

 

 

Extended Validated SSL have the strictest control procedure, to confirm the organization’s identity. The certification process is different from Organization certificates, as for EV SSL it is prescribed by the Certification Authority Browser Forum and it includes 6 + 1 levels, which requires submitting documents for: 

 

1. Exclusive domain name ownership.

 

Since, the company Comodo mentions carrying out whois domain verifications, in order to ensure that the applicant’s name and address are the same as the domain holder’s. Therefore, you will have to ask for a confirmation written in English for your domain holder, from the registrant you purchased the domain from.

 

2. Organisation’s seat.

 Note:

There is a possibility for a phone confirmation, so if you have a website online, the address and phone number must be valid.

 

3. Natural and legal status.

 

You might need a phone or electricity bill copy from your company, translated into English.

 

4. Functionality.

 

Starting the business from the Chamber and/or Tax Office and/or another authority, which depends on the composition of the company.

 

5. SSL request confirmation. 

 

If there is any problem with the SSL approval by Comodo, you will have to fill in and send the following confirmation form for your company, certified by a lawyer or an accountant in English. You can download it here.

 

6. Natural and legal existence of the legal representative.

 

You might be asked to fill in and send the following: 

 

EV SSL Certificate Subscriber Agreement and  EV SSL Certificate Request Form - Full Version

 

You can register to the company Dunn & Bradstreet which is recognized internationally in order for your company to be added.
